Gwangju Student Independence Movement Memorial Hall, Recruiting Lifelong Education Students for the First Half of This Year
Adult cultural classes from 13th to 16th... Children and youth classes from 27th to March 5th
The Gwangju Student Independence Movement Memorial Hall announced on the 13th that it is recruiting students for the ‘2024 First Half Lifelong Education Program’ for local residents.
Running from March to July, this lifelong education program consists of four courses aimed at citizens’ self-development and healthy leisure activities: ‘Children’s Saturday Cultural Playground,’ ‘Children’s Creative Writing Class,’ ‘Youth Creative Essay Class,’ and ‘Adult Cultural Lectures.’
The ‘Children’s Saturday Cultural Playground’ offers a total of 10 classes every Saturday for elementary school students, including ▲Lego Coding (lower grades, upper grades) ▲Children’s Dance Class ▲Creative Math & Board Games ▲Children’s Pottery Class (morning, afternoon) ▲Children’s Korean History ▲Picture Book Play Class ▲Chess Class ▲Baduk Class.
The ‘Children’s Creative Writing Class’ and ‘Youth Creative Essay Class’ are held every Saturday for elementary and middle school students, respectively.
The ‘Adult Cultural Lectures’ are held from Tuesday to Wednesday every week and include 12 humanities and cultural arts courses: ▲Calligraphy Class ▲Watercolor Painting ▲Practical Digital Skills ▲Pottery Class ▲Oil Painting ▲Detailed Colored Pencil Drawing ▲English Conversation ▲Real Estate and Auction ▲Literary Painting ▲Pencil Sketch ▲Yoga & Small Equipment Pilates ▲Acoustic Guitar.
Jung Woon-yong, director of the Gwangju Student Independence Movement Memorial Hall, said, “We have organized a variety of courses ranging from humanities and liberal arts to culture and arts for self-development and healthy leisure activities for all age groups. We hope this program will provide citizens with opportunities to satisfy their desire for learning.”
Meanwhile, course applications are accepted on a first-come, first-served basis through the Gwangju Student Independence Movement Memorial Hall website. Applications for adult cultural lectures are open from the 13th to the 16th, and for children and youth courses from the 27th to March 5th.
The courses for children and youth are free of charge, while the adult cultural lectures cost 50,000 KRW for 16 sessions (once a week). Those eligible for tuition discounts can receive a 50-100% reduction upon submission of supporting documents according to the relevant criteria.
