The day before, Jang Dong-hyeok, Secretary-General of the People Power Party, met with reporters at the National Assembly and said, "Seobyeong-su, whose constituency is Busan Jin-gu-gap, was asked to run in Busan Buk·Gangseo-gap, where Jeon Jae-su of the Democratic Party of Korea is," adding, "If we defend and capture the Nakdong River Belt in Gyeongnam, it will have great significance in the general election." The party judged that Seobyeong-su, who has experience as the mayor of Busan and has scalability, is suitable for reclaiming the Nakdong River Belt.
Seobyeong-su said, "I feel a bit disappointed about the request to run in Buk·Gangseo-gap, and I think the residents of my constituency might feel disappointed as well," but added, "Once the candidate for Busan Jin-gu-gap is decided, I will ask them to do their best for victory."
Seobyeong-su also expressed the opinion that senior lawmakers should accept running in difficult districts for the victory of the general election. He said, "I believe that accepting the request for dedication will greatly help the victory in the general election," adding, "If there is a strategically necessary place for the party's victory and the success of the Yoon Seok-yeol administration, it is necessary to respond strategically. I think it would be good if senior lawmakers accept this."

However, considering various factors, he also stated that senior lawmakers should be assigned appropriately. Seobyeong-su said, "It would be good if the Nakdong River Belt difficult district candidacy leads to the metropolitan area," but added, "We must consider the personal characteristics of incumbents or senior lawmakers as well as regional characteristics to win the election."
