Martial Arts 'Hanil Exchange Special Committee' Launched... Chairman is Cho Hyun-joon, Chairman of Hyosung Group
Leading Korea-Japan Private Economic Cooperation and Industrial Exchange
On the 7th, the Korea International Trade Association (KITA) held the "Inaugural Meeting and 1st Session of the Korea-Japan Exchange Special Committee" at the Grand InterContinental Hotel in Samseong-dong, Seoul. The meeting was attended by 15 people, including KITA Chairman Koo Ja-yeol, Hyosung Group Chairman Cho Hyun-joon, Dongwon Group Vice Chairman Kim Nam-jung, and Infac Korea CEO Lee Seung-hyun, along with other KITA chairpersons, trading company representatives, and startup leaders. At this event, Chairman Cho was appointed as the committee chairman.
KITA established the Special Committee to lead private economic cooperation and industrial exchange following the improvement of Korea-Japan relations. The committee will discuss cooperation plans to revitalize Korea-Japan trade and review major Japanese business activities within KITA. It will also establish a channel for continuous communication and cooperation with the "Korea-Japan Exchange Committee" under the Japan Economic Friendship Association, serving as a platform for exchanges between Korean and Japanese companies.
In his opening remarks, Chairman Koo said, "Japan is both a competitor and a partner with whom we can create great synergy in the industrial sector," adding, "Businesspeople from both countries must gather wisdom and strengthen communication across various fields such as economy and security to prepare for the rapidly changing future."
He continued, "The Korea-Japan Exchange Special Committee will serve as a bridge connecting companies from both countries," noting, "Since the special committee includes representatives of startups leading technological innovation in AI, bio, and excellent companies from local regions, it will deepen the breadth and depth of corporate exchanges between the two countries by expanding future industrial cooperation and human exchanges."
KITA plans to promote timely private exchange projects. Through these efforts, it aims to play a pivotal role in strengthening private economic cooperation between Korea and Japan. Next month, the "Korea-Japan New Industry Trade Conference" will be held in Tokyo, Japan, to expand economic links between companies from both countries. "Expert Invitation Seminars" for information sharing will also be held periodically throughout the year.
