No Transfer for ‘False Accusation Teacher’... Former JY Group Chairman Joo Soo-do Sentenced to Prison Again in Second Trial
Former JU Group Chairman Joo Soo-do, who was indicted for instructing an acquaintance to falsely accuse him in order to avoid being transferred to a provincial prison while serving a sentence for fraud, was sentenced to imprisonment again in the appellate court.

The Seoul Central District Court Criminal Appeals Division 9 (Presiding Judge Lee Seong-bok) on the 6th sentenced Mr. Joo, who was tried for instigating false accusation, to 10 months in prison with a 2-year probation. Mr. Joo's acquaintance Mr. Lee and lawyer Ha Mo were sentenced to 6 months in prison with a 2-year probation and a fine of 10 million won, respectively.
Mr. Joo is accused of instructing lawyer Ha and Mr. Lee to falsely accuse him around October 2016. At that time, former Chairman Joo, who was detained at Seoul Detention Center, was under investigation for fraud involving approximately 110 billion won, and it was revealed that he instigated the false accusation to facilitate meetings with his lawyer.

Lawyer Ha and Mr. Lee were investigated to have submitted a complaint stating that "Former Chairman Joo did not pay Mr. Lee, who worked at JU Network, a salary of 18 million won from September 2014 to February 2016."
