Yeongdeungpo-gu Launches Full-Scale 'Seollal Comprehensive Measures' Initiative
From February 7 to 13, a 7-day Comprehensive Lunar New Year Plan Focused on Residents' Daily Lives
Priority Management in 5 Areas: Resident Safety, Traffic Convenience, Resolving Daily Inconveniences, Price Stability, Support for Marginalized Neighbors
Operation of '24-Hour Comprehensive Situation Room' and 'Sector-Specific Task Forces' for Rapid Emergency Response During the Lunar New Year Period
Yeongdeungpo-gu (District Mayor Choi Ho-kwon) announced that it will implement a "Lunar New Year Comprehensive Plan" for seven days from February 7 to 13 to ensure a comfortable and enjoyable Lunar New Year holiday for its residents.
The district has prepared a comprehensive plan focusing on five key areas most closely related to residents' daily lives: ▲strengthening resident safety, ▲supporting transportation use, ▲resolving daily inconveniences, ▲stabilizing holiday prices, and ▲supporting marginalized neighbors.
Strengthening Resident Safety
The district will thoroughly manage residents' safety even during the Lunar New Year holiday.
To prepare for disasters such as safety accidents, fires, and heavy snowfall, safety inspections will be conducted at 36 major road facilities, 53 construction sites and safety-vulnerable facilities, 4 maintenance project sites, and 65 vacant houses and buildings. Additionally, safety inspections will be carried out at park facilities such as village squares, green spaces, and Anyangcheon Stream; 16 traditional markets and shopping districts; 316 welfare facilities; 31 multi-use facilities including cinemas; and 46 gas supply facilities.
Moreover, full efforts will be made to manage food safety for seasonal foods and ritual food items. An emergency quarantine system will be operated to prepare for infectious disease cases, and an emergency response system will be maintained to prevent food poisoning. On-site inspections will be conducted at more than 20 food service establishments near major transportation facilities, 10 establishments handling Korean beef, and 21 seasonal food manufacturing and sales businesses to provide safe food to residents.
Supporting Transportation Use
To alleviate transportation inconveniences for residents, special crackdowns on illegal activities and the establishment of traffic order will be undertaken.
From February 7 to 13, intensive parking and stopping enforcement will be conducted near major stations, large marts, department stores, traditional markets, and other multi-use facilities within the district. Additionally, during the holiday period, special crackdowns will be carried out on long-term parking and solicitation by taxis at night to help ensure safe use for nighttime travelers returning home or going out.
Furthermore, to ease parking difficulties, four school parking lots and 35 public parking lots (29 on-street parking lots, 3 off-street parking lots, and 3 resident-priority parking lots) within the district will be opened. The status of open parking lots can be checked on the Yeongdeungpo-gu Office website's notice board.
Resolving Daily Inconveniences
To ensure a pleasant and safe Lunar New Year holiday for residents, efforts will be made to promptly handle garbage and maintain an emergency medical system during the holiday period.
To minimize inconvenience caused by garbage and maintain street cleanliness, the disposal of household waste, food waste, and recyclables will be prohibited from February 9 to 10. Garbage disposal will be allowed from 8 p.m. on February 11, and immediately after the holiday, cleaning personnel and equipment will be fully mobilized to quickly collect accumulated waste.
Also, an emergency medical situation room will operate for four days from February 9 to 12. During the holiday, 23 hospitals and clinics and 64 pharmacies will be open, activating the emergency medical system to prevent gaps in medical care. Information on participating medical institutions can be found on the Yeongdeungpo-gu Office website's notice board or by contacting the district office's comprehensive situation room.
Stabilizing Holiday Prices and Supporting Marginalized Neighbors
To ease residents' burdens for ancestral rites caused by steep price increases, price monitoring and crackdowns on unfair trade practices for seasonal goods will be intensified during the holiday period to stabilize supply and establish fair distribution order.
Finally, the district will hold various sharing events for the Lunar New Year so that no neighbors in the community are left out and everyone can have a rich and warm holiday. It will also share deep compassion by visiting marginalized groups and checking on socially isolated households to prevent welfare blind spots.
Additionally, the district stated that it will operate a "24-hour comprehensive situation room" during the holiday and form task forces by sector to maintain a close communication system for rapid response in case of emergencies.
