Reviewing Reissuance of Im Hyedong's Warrant
The police investigation into former national soccer team player Hwang Ui-jo (32), who is suspected of illegal filming, is expected to conclude soon.
On the 5th, Woo Jong-su, head of the National Investigation Headquarters at the National Police Agency, stated at a regular press briefing, "We have secured testimonies from related parties and obtained evidence," adding, "We plan to compile and assess everything soon and wrap up the investigation."
Hwang Ui-jo has been under police investigation for allegedly filming sexual intercourse without the consent of the other party (filming using a camera, etc., under the Act on Special Cases Concerning the Punishment, etc. of Sexual Crimes).
Hwang Ui-jo, who returned to the country on the 10th to undergo police questioning, has since been questioned three times as a suspect. Regarding the possibility of additional summons, Head Woo responded, "There are currently no plans for further summons."
During the police investigation, Hwang Ui-jo reportedly admitted to filming the video but stated that "it was not done secretly, and there was no explicit refusal from the other party."
Immediately after Hwang Ui-jo's return, the police conducted additional searches and seizures of his cellphone and laptop. On the 16th, considering his repeated non-compliance with previous summons requests, a travel ban was imposed. The travel ban on Hwang Ui-jo expired on the 28th, and the police decided not to extend it.
