Shin Chang-jae, Chairman of Kyobo Life Insurance, "We Are a Mutual Support Platform"
"Insurance companies should serve as a 'mutual aid' platform that goes beyond simply paying insurance claims, helping customers quickly overcome adversity and return to their daily lives."
According to Kyobo Life Insurance on the 5th, Shin Chang-jae, CEO and Chairman of Kyobo Life Insurance, has held four management briefings this year. These briefings are occasions where the top executive directly communicates for about two hours with employees, sharing the previous year's management evaluation and this year's management policies.
Every early year, Chairman Shin holds a briefing at Kyobo Life's training center 'Gyesungwon' in Cheonan, Chungnam, attended by about 800 executives, including branch managers and head office team leaders. This year, he took time to communicate with all 1,200 employees working at the head office.
At this year's briefing, Chairman Shin said, "Bold innovation is necessary to identify and solve customers' problems," adding, "In this process, there must be a corporate culture where members are not afraid of healthy failures and can take on new challenges."
He repeated the same message four times to ensure that management policies are fully shared with employees to achieve change and innovation necessary for survival. An employee at Kyobo Life said, "Hearing candidly from the top executive about the company's situation and management direction made me feel respected."

This is not Chairman Shin's first communication management effort. At the second half briefing held in July last year, only MZ generation (Millennials + Generation Z) employees were invited for a meeting lasting over an hour. At that time, Chairman Shin emphasized a culture of mutual respect by saying, "Do not automatically view X generation supervisors as 'kkondae' (old-fashioned or authoritarian); instead, accept differences and wisely utilize supervisors."
