Collision Between Fishing Boats at Donghae Daejin Port... "One Vessel Sunk, Crew Safely Rescued"
Two fishing vessels collided near Daejin Port in Donghae-si, Gangwon Province, causing one vessel to sink. Two crew members aboard the sunken vessel were safely rescued.
According to the Donghae Coast Guard on the 4th, at around 5 a.m. that day, two fishing vessels collided one nautical mile east of Daejin Port in Donghae-si, Gangwon Province, resulting in the sinking of vessel A (2.25 tons). The two crew members aboard were safely rescued by vessel B (9.77 tons, with 5 crew members) involved in the collision.
Upon receiving the collision report, the Donghae Coast Guard dispatched the Mukho Police Station coastal rescue boat, nearby patrol ships, and the Donghae Marine Special Rescue Team to the scene. The Mukho Police Station coastal rescue boat arrived at the scene around 5:38 a.m. and reported that vessel A had sunk about 30 minutes later.
The Donghae Coast Guard plans to strengthen patrols to collect floating debris around the accident site and monitor for marine pollution. They are also conducting safety management for fishing vessels operating near the accident location.

Additionally, the crew members aboard the fishing vessels were confirmed to have no health issues, and an accurate investigation into the cause of the accident will be conducted. A Donghae Coast Guard official urged, "Early morning fishing operations have a high risk of accidents due to limited visibility, so special caution is required. In particular, please follow safety rules such as wearing life jackets."
