Yongsan-gu, Seoul (District Mayor Park Hee-young) held the '2024 Senior Job Integrated Launch Ceremony' at the Yongsan Art Hall Grand Theater on the 31st of last month.
At the launch ceremony, about 780 seniors belonging to 27 project teams attended to mark the beginning of the 2024 senior job projects together.
Following the national anthem and introduction of guests, a pledge was taken by senior participants representing a total of 1,826 seniors, both men and women. The reader of the declaration was selected for exemplary participation in the project by diligently managing books at the city-run Yongsan Senior Welfare Center's book cafe last year.
Before the launch ceremony, a video on fire accident prevention and first aid training was screened, and after the event, a safety education session titled 'Safety Rules for Healthy Social Activities' was conducted by a professional instructor, ensuring a safe and vibrant project implementation.
The district is investing over 9.2 billion won this year to provide jobs to a total of 1,826 seniors across 27 fields.
In particular, to respond to the transition to a super-aged society and the demands of the new senior generation, unique job projects have been newly added.
▲ 'Senior Health Mate,' promoting health management projects by acting as walking leaders ▲ 'Smart Mate,' providing digital and cognitive support education to vulnerable groups ▲ 'Senior Reporter Group,' gathering local information using smartphones ? these and other jobs have increased, allowing seniors to demonstrate their capabilities and feel a sense of accomplishment in various fields.
This senior job project started sequentially last month across six implementing organizations, reflecting participants' needs with 27 projects including ▲ public interest activities supporting social participation ▲ social service types utilizing participants' careers and capabilities ▲ market types generating profits through manufacturing and sales.
