Dongdaemun-gu Awards Citation to Dapsimni 2-dong Officer Who Saved an Octogenarian with CPR on the 22nd of Last Month
Dongdaemun-gu (District Mayor Lee Pil-hyung) awarded a ‘Special Merit Public Official’ certificate and a cash prize on the 1st to encourage an employee who saved a resident’s precious life. The recipient is Shin So-yeon, an administrative officer working at Dapsimni 2-dong Community Service Center.
On the morning of the 22nd of last month, while on her way to work for emergency snow removal duty, Officer Shin noticed an elderly man in his 80s pulling a cart full of scrap paper collapse unconscious. Having experience working as an operating room nurse, she immediately knelt down and performed CPR without hesitation. The elderly man was then transported to the hospital and survived thanks to not missing the golden hour.
Officer Shin So-yeon said, “I had never seen him before and didn’t know who he was, but when I saw him collapsed, I just thought I had to help.” She added, “If something like this happens again, I will not hesitate to save a life.”
The district encouraged the recipient’s hard work through this special commendation and expressed gratitude for saving a resident’s precious life.
