Gurye-gun to Conduct Special Crackdown on Environmental Pollution During Lunar New Year Holiday

Intensive Crackdown on Industrial Complexes and Water Source Areas

Gurye-gun, Jeollanam-do announced that it plans to conduct special monitoring activities focusing on facilities discharging environmental pollutants, water source protection areas, and pollution-vulnerable regions to prevent environmental pollution incidents that may occur during the Lunar New Year holiday period.

This monitoring activity is being promoted to prevent illegal discharge of environmental pollutants and to respond promptly to potential environmental pollution accidents during the holiday period.

Before the holiday, the county will focus on inspecting pre-checks and preventive measures at business sites, the normal operation of pollution prevention facilities, and pollution around business sites. From February 9 to February 12, during the holiday period, a special monitoring situation room will be operated to maintain an emergency communication system with related organizations and respond swiftly in case of environmental pollution accidents.

A county official stated, “We plan to take strong actions such as filing complaints and administrative measures according to relevant laws against businesses that intentionally and habitually discharge wastewater and livestock manure without permission during the special monitoring period.”

County Governor Kim Soon-ho said, “We will strengthen special monitoring activities to prevent illegal environmental pollution during the holiday period so that residents can spend the Lunar New Year holiday safely and comfortably.”
