Bucheon Mayor Joyongik Meets 1st Vice Minister of Land, Infrastructure and Transport to Request Cooperation on Local Issues
Proposals for Improvement of Urban Public Housing Complex Project System and More
Jo Yong-ik, Mayor of Bucheon City in Gyeonggi Province, met with Jin Hyun-hwan, the 1st Vice Minister of the Ministry of Land, Infrastructure and Transport, to propose institutional improvements for the smooth promotion of urban maintenance projects and the resolution of local issues.
According to Bucheon City on the 1st, during the meeting with Vice Minister Jin held at the National Assembly the previous day, Mayor Jo proposed necessary institutional improvements for resolving local issues, including ▲improvements to the urban public housing complex project system ▲relaxation of zoning regulations in Daejangandong neighborhood ▲incorporation of candidate sites for relocating Bucheon Resource Circulation Center into new towns ▲reflection of Bucheon Natural Ecological Park in the Greenbelt (GB) management plan, and requested smooth cooperation.
The meeting was hosted by Seol Hoon, a member of the Democratic Party of Korea representing Bucheon City B district in Gyeonggi Province, and was attended by local city and provincial council members as well as officials from the Korea Land and Housing Corporation (LH).

View original imageThe Bucheon Wonmi complex district, where the urban public housing complex project is underway, completed its project plan approval at the end of last year, and the planned district on the west side of Jungdong Station is about to be designated. The east side of Jungdong Station is scheduled to complete district designation in the first half of this year.
Mayor Jo emphasized, "Bucheon City is the second most active region among local governments nationwide in promoting urban public housing complex projects (7 out of 55 locations)," adding, "We will promote the urban public housing complex projects on the east and west sides of Jungdong Station to become a model case for other local governments."

He continued, "To resolve local issues, mutual cooperation between local and central governments is necessary," and said, "We hope for the active cooperation of the Ministry of Land, Infrastructure and Transport to achieve 'spatial welfare' and 'balanced urban development,' which are key tasks of the 8th elected administration."
