Operation of Wildfire Prevention Period from February 1 to May 15

Daejeon City has designated the period from April 1 to May 15 as the spring wildfire prevention period and is making every effort to prevent wildfires.
On the 1st, Daejeon City announced that during the spring wildfire prevention period, it will establish a wildfire prevention headquarters at the city hall and autonomous districts, operate an emergency duty system, and deploy 210 wildfire monitors intensively in wildfire-prone areas to maintain wildfire prevention activities.

View original imageDuring the spring wildfire prevention period, 132 unmanned wildfire surveillance cameras and 15 drones will be operated to monitor wildfire prevention and wildfire occurrence situations. In addition, firefighting vehicles, backpack pumps, and other firefighting equipment will be prepared for initial response in case of wildfire occurrence to be ready for any emergency.
In particular, Daejeon City plans to complete the agricultural byproduct shredding project by the end of this month in collaboration with the Agricultural Technology Center to eradicate illegal burning, which has been identified as a major cause of wildfires this year.

Jung Haegyo, Director of the Environmental Greenery Bureau of Daejeon City, said, “Learning from the large wildfire that occurred in Seo-gu last year, we will do our best to prevent any wildfires in the region this year,” and added, “Wildfire prevention requires active cooperation from citizens, so we ask that people refrain from burning rice paddies, fields, and waste near forests and avoid using fire during hiking.”
