Underage Victims Involved in 'Group Prostitution'... Man in His 40s Sent to Prosecution
About 10 Adult Men and Women Involved Also Referred to Prosecution
A man in his 40s who facilitated group prostitution involving minors has been referred to the prosecution.
On the 31st, the Dongjak Police Station in Seoul announced that they had sent Mr. A (42) to the prosecution without detention on the 29th on charges of violating the Act on the Protection of Children and Juveniles from Sexual Abuse and facilitating prostitution. The police also referred Mr. B (62), who led the group prostitution with Mr. A, along with about 10 adult men and women involved, to the prosecution.
According to the police, Mr. A is suspected of recruiting women to engage in group sexual activities for money at several lodging establishments in Seoul from January to April last year. It was also investigated that he gathered men through SNS, collected participation fees, and then facilitated group sexual activities.
Some of the women were minors, and the police regarded them as victims and excluded them from those sent to prosecution.
Mr. A is also charged with statutory rape of minors and production of child sexual exploitation materials involving minors under the Act on the Protection of Children and Juveniles from Sexual Abuse, as he had sexual relations with minors and filmed group sexual acts including minors.
The police began investigating after detecting such circumstances during a forensic examination of Mr. A’s mobile phone while investigating other illegal filming charges against him in February last year.
