Gochang-gun Promotes 'Traditional Market Old Electrical Wiring Maintenance Project'
Gochang County in Jeollabuk-do announced on the 31st that it will promote a project to repair outdated electrical wiring in individual stores to prevent fires at Gochang Traditional Market.
The county recently secured a project budget of 122 million KRW after being selected for the 2024 Outdated Electrical Wiring Repair Project by the Ministry of SMEs and Startups.
The outdated electrical wiring repair project aims to create a fire-safe traditional market by improving old electrical facilities such as replacing distribution panels, circuit breakers, and wiring devices in individual stores vulnerable to fire within the traditional market, as well as indoor wiring work.
Since its establishment in 1965, Gochang Traditional Market had a structure vulnerable to fire due to unrepaired electrical wiring.
Accordingly, the county has been carrying out projects to create a fire-safe market environment, including the installation of fire-fighting facilities such as sprinklers, the development of access roads, and the installation of fire alarm systems.
The market was also selected for the Market Management Package Support Project, securing a budget of 26.16 million KRW, and plans to strengthen the competitiveness of the traditional market through support from market managers with expertise and capabilities.
County Governor Shim Deok-seop said, “Through the maintenance of electrical facilities in the traditional market vulnerable to fire due to aging equipment, we will create a safe and convenient shopping environment and contribute to the revitalization of the traditional market through support for market managers.”
