Korea McDonald's announced on the 30th that it will further expand kiosk on-site training education for the elderly this year in collaboration with the National Institute for Lifelong Education.
The kiosk on-site training education conducted by McDonald's and the Institute is carried out by first learning through educational materials at local literacy education institutions, followed by directly ordering menu items at McDonald's stores. Both parties plan to officially expand this education nationwide starting this year after a pilot implementation last year.

Since then, McDonald's and the Institute jointly planned and developed kiosk educational materials and distributed them to 298 literacy education institutions. This year, they plan to supply these materials to even more educational institutions. Thanks to these efforts to reduce the digital information gap, McDonald's received a commendation from the Minister of Education last month in recognition of its contribution to the development of lifelong education.

The textbook is composed mainly of photos, including actual McDonald's menus and images of store kiosks, to make understanding easier. Detailed explanations and interpretations tailored to the learners' level were added for related terms that might be somewhat unfamiliar.
In a kiosk on-site training video released this month on the Institute's YouTube channel, one learner said, "It's not that difficult, but I think I was afraid to try. I am grateful that this education allows older people to order directly through the kiosk." Another learner said, "I usually ate food ordered by my children or brought by someone else, but trying it myself made me feel proud."
