Expansion of the Serious Accident Punishment Act... Safety Council Meeting Held for Busan Port New Port Hinterland Complex
Busan Port Authority (BPA, President Kang Jun-seok) held the 1st quarter Safety Council on the 29th at the Busan New Port Welfare Plus Center for 69 tenant companies in the New Port hinterland complex.

View original imageAt the council meeting, a professional instructor from the Korea Occupational Safety and Health Agency was invited to conduct safety education related to establishing a workplace safety and health management system to prevent serious industrial accidents within the hinterland complex and the Serious Accidents Punishment Act. There was also time to discuss industry difficulties regarding safety management.
About 70 representatives and practitioners from 69 tenant companies in the hinterland complex attended the meeting, reflecting the industry's high interest in responding to the Serious Accidents Punishment Act, which has been expanded to workplaces with fewer than 50 employees since the 27th.
Most tenant companies in the New Port hinterland complex are workplaces with fewer than 50 employees and are subject to the expanded application of the Serious Accidents Punishment Act.
BPA, in cooperation with the Ministry of Oceans and Fisheries' port safety inspectors, conducts monthly safety inspections of tenant companies in the hinterland complex to identify and improve on-site risk factors, provide advice on risk assessment techniques, and proactively work to prevent serious accidents.
