Bucheon Village Bus Fare Increase from the 3rd of Next Month... Adult Fare 1,450 Won
The village bus fares in Bucheon-si, Gyeonggi Province will increase starting from the 3rd of next month.
The city recently held a Consumer Policy Deliberation Committee meeting and approved the village bus fare adjustment plan. According to this, the basic fare for village buses when paying with a transportation card will rise from 1,300 won to 1,450 won for adults aged 19 and over, and from 910 won to 1,010 won for teenagers aged 13 to 18.
Additionally, the basic fare for children aged 6 to 12 using a transportation card will increase from 650 won to 730 won. When paying with cash, the basic fare will increase by 100 won, making it 1,500 won for adults, 1,100 won for teenagers, and 800 won for children.
The city explained that although village bus fares had been frozen for 4 years and 3 months since the last increase in November 2019, the fare hike is unavoidable from next month due to the worsening financial difficulties of transportation companies.
A Bucheon city official stated, "Over the past four years, we have maintained the lowest basic fare level among the 22 cities and counties in Gyeonggi Province where village buses operate," and added, "Since the spread of COVID-19 in 2020, ridership has decreased, leading to this fare increase."
