Lotte Mart Renovates Indonesia Gandaria Store into Grocery Specialty Shop
Grocery Store Area Increased by 20% Compared to Before
Actively Targeting Growing Demand for K-Food
"Overseas Expansion Hub... Securing Growth Engine"
Lotte Mart announced on the 28th that its Gandaria store in Indonesia has reopened as a 'grocery specialty store' after three months of renovation. It is the first grocery innovation store among Lotte Mart locations in Indonesia, featuring a 20% increase in the grocery store area compared to before and differentiated specialty stores arranged by zones.
Lotte Mart said it concentrated its grocery capabilities at the Gandaria store. In particular, it prominently placed quick-preparation specialty stores such as the instant cooking specialty store 'Yorihada Kitchen,' the directly operated bakery 'Pungmiso,' and its own pizza brand 'Cheese & Dough.' The company explained that this move reflects the growing demand for K-food among the local upper-middle class and the MZ generation (Millennials + Generation Z).

K-food ready meals apply cooking methods developed directly in Korea. Lotte Mart Indonesia invited chefs from its local subsidiary to the Korean headquarters for recipe training and consulting, aiming to maximize the taste and quality of Korean ready meal products, according to the company.
The fresh food section enhanced the competitiveness of fresh and premium products. The agricultural products section offers Korean-submitted fruits such as strawberries and grapes via air direct shipment, while operating several specialty zones such as the 'Australian Clean Vegetable Zone' and the 'Banana Specialty Zone.' The livestock section introduced new Australian breeds like Black Angus and Wagyu, and the seafood section operates a salmon specialty zone selling various air-shipped products such as fillets and slices.
The processed food section consists of Lotte Mart's unique specialty stores. 'Lotte Station' introduces exclusive products from Lotte Wellfood Korea and is composed of Lotte Mart's private brands 'Oneul Joeun' and 'Yorihada' products. The 'Noodle Zone' is a specialty store for noodle products, offering over 500 types of ramen and noodle items. The 'World Chocolate Candy Zone' is equipped with customized fixtures designed to match children's eye level.
The non-food section was condensed into product groups with high customer preference and reorganized into specialty store formats. Reflecting the trend of an increasing middle-class population raising pets, 'COCOLUCI' is newly introduced. Additionally, a health and beauty specialty store catering to the tastes of the MZ generation, who are highly interested in beauty, is also operated.

Previously, in October 2008, Lotte Mart entered the Indonesian market for the first time in the Korean distribution industry by acquiring 19 Makro stores in Indonesia. Currently, Lotte Mart operates 36 wholesale stores and 12 Korean-style retail stores reflecting regional characteristics in Indonesia.
Except for the pandemic years 2020 and 2021, Lotte Mart Indonesia's sales and operating profits have grown every year. In 2022, when the transition to the endemic phase occurred, it succeeded in a turnaround and achieved a positive operating profit. As of the cumulative third quarter last year, sales recorded 832 billion won, a 3.5% increase, and operating profit was 15 billion won, up 39.4% from 2022.
