Statistics Korea Conducts Daily Price Surveys on Beef, Fruits, and Chicken Ahead of Seollal
Results of 33 Major Items Provided to Relevant Ministries by the 8th of Next Month
On the 26th, Statistics Korea announced that it will conduct a 10-day daily price survey for the Lunar New Year holiday until the 8th of next month.
This daily price survey aims to quickly provide data necessary for the government's livelihood stabilization measures ahead of the Lunar New Year. It will investigate the daily prices of 33 major items and provide the results to relevant government departments every day.
The 33 major items include 21 agricultural, livestock, and fishery products such as beef, yellow croaker, and fruits; 5 processed foods such as flour and tofu; 3 petroleum products such as kerosene, gasoline, and diesel; and 4 dining-out items such as pork belly and chicken.
On the first day of the daily price survey, Lee Hyung-il, Commissioner of Statistics Korea, visited Dongbu Market in Chuncheon, Gangwon Province, to check the price trends of holiday season products including fruits like apples and pears, and encouraged the staff conducting the on-site survey while urging them to ensure accurate data collection.

Commissioner Lee stated, "Statistics Korea will promptly provide price trends that form the basis for policies to stabilize the supply and prices of Lunar New Year products, and will continue to do its best to produce necessary statistics accurately and timely according to statistical demands."
