Baek Hyunjin Assault Conspiracy... Yoon Heeseok "Roamed for 2 Hours Before Crime... How Did They Know Personal Schedule?"
"Baehyeonjin Suffers Severe Mental Shock... MRI Scheduled"
Emphasizes Need for Security Measures Ahead of General Election
Yoon Hee-seok, senior spokesperson for the People Power Party, commented on the incident in which party member Bae Hyun-jin was attacked by a teenage middle school student, saying, "The most surprising point is that the suspect did not happen to see and follow Representative Bae inside, but rather wandered around the area for about two hours," adding, "This suggests that the suspect knew her personal schedule in advance."
On the 26th, during YTN's 'News Rider,' Senior Spokesperson Yoon emphasized, "There should be a consensus that, regardless of party lines, we must take the lead in healing the extremely divided politics amid the ongoing terrorist attacks on politicians."
The previous day at 5:18 p.m., Representative Bae was attacked on the head and collapsed bleeding at the entrance of a building in Sinsa-dong, Gangnam-gu, Seoul. According to Bae’s side, the assailant confirmed her identity by asking twice, "Are you People Power Party’s Bae Hyun-jin?" before assaulting her.
The suspect, who was arrested at the scene, is a teenage middle school student. Senior Spokesperson Yoon pointed out, "Although a middle schooler, the suspect reportedly posted many politically related messages on social media (SNS)," adding, "This indicates that the suspect had negative thoughts about Representative Bae’s political activities and targeted her." He further added, "It is concerning that our society has reached a point where people harbor hatred toward politicians and commit political terrorism."

Senior Spokesperson Yoon stated, "After speaking with Representative Bae’s staff, there is no particular physical deterioration, but she is in a state of mental shock," adding, "She is confused and unable to understand why such a situation occurred."
He also stressed the need to prepare security measures for politicians ahead of the April 10 general election. Senior Spokesperson Yoon said, "Given that this incident occurred shortly after the shock of the April 2 stabbing of Lee Jae-myung, leader of the Democratic Party of Korea, it is common sense that institutional measures should be discussed at the National Assembly level," adding, "We need to have in-depth discussions on security-related measures."
