Seongnam City Intensifies Lunar New Year Price Management... Joint Inspection Team Activated
Seongnam City in Gyeonggi Province will intensively manage prices for the Lunar New Year holiday until the 12th of next month.
During this period, Seongnam City will deploy price monitoring personnel at 14 locations including department stores, E-Mart, and Jungang Market within the city to track the price trends of 20 essential items such as chicken, beef, pork, croaker, pollack, and apples twice a week. Seongnam City will publish the price trends on its website (Information by Category → Economy → Shopping Basket Prices).
In addition, to prevent unfair trade practices that may occur ahead of the holiday, a joint inspection team consisting of three groups and eight members from related departments, consumer organizations, and livestock product inspectors will also be activated.
The joint inspection team will visit traditional markets and large retail stores to check for violations such as failure to comply with price labeling regulations, false origin labeling of agricultural and livestock products, overcharging beyond displayed prices, hoarding, and collusion.
If unfair trade practices are detected, measures such as on-site correction orders, fines, and notifications to the Fair Trade Commission will be taken depending on the severity.
