500kg Raw Material Sack Falls at a Factory in Gimhae... A Man in His 20s Dies
A man in his 20s who was moving a sack containing plastic at an auto parts manufacturing plant in Gimhae, Gyeongnam, was crushed by the sack and died.
According to the Gimhae Western Police Station on the 23rd, Mr. A was moving a large sack containing plastic raw materials using a machine at a factory in Jinyeong-eup, Gimhae City, around 10 a.m. that day when he was crushed by the sack.
While operating a hoist, a device for moving cargo, with a remote control, the sack’s connecting strap broke, causing the sack to fall about 3 meters and cover Mr. A.
The sack was found to contain approximately 500 kg of plastic injection molding raw materials used for automobile interior parts.
Mr. A was transported to the hospital by the 119 emergency medical team dispatched after a colleague reported the accident, but he passed away en route.
The factory where Mr. A worked employs more than 100 regular workers and is subject to the Serious Accidents Punishment Act.
A work stoppage order has currently been issued at the site.
The police plan to investigate the person responsible for safety management for any negligence related to the work.
