Gim Heesu, Gyeongbuk Provincial Assembly Member, Proposes Ordinance to Improve Social Workers' Working Conditions
Gyeongbuk Provincial Council member Kim Hee-su (People Power Party, Pohang) proposed the "Ordinance Amendment on the Improvement of Treatment and Status of Social Workers in Gyeongbuk Province" to enhance the treatment and status of social welfare workers and promote the welfare of residents.
Council member Kim Hee-su explained the reason for the ordinance amendment, stating that although the role and responsibility of social workers caring for socially vulnerable people in various fields are becoming increasingly important, the treatment and working conditions of social workers remain poor.
The amended ordinance includes provisions such as the social welfare facility substitute workforce support project and the establishment and implementation of plans to unify the compensation system.
Council member Kim said, "Through the social welfare facility substitute workforce support project, policies such as family care leave, long-term service leave, and paid sick leave will be introduced and expanded. With the establishment and implementation of plans to unify the compensation system, we hope to provide stable and professional welfare services to residents, creating a virtuous cycle that leads to the promotion of welfare in Gyeongbuk Province."
