Gwangju Bukbu Fire Station Urges Caution Against Careless Fires in Winter Season
The Northern Fire Station of Gwangju Metropolitan City announced on the 22nd a warning to be cautious of fires caused by carelessness during the winter season.
In particular, fires caused by cigarette butts account for the highest proportion among causes due to carelessness, so special attention is required.
If cigarette butts are left unattended while still retaining heat, they can ignite and spread fire even after 1 to 2 hours, so it is necessary to check even the smallest butts.
After smoking in designated smoking areas, make sure to completely extinguish cigarette embers before disposal, and do not throw cigarette butts anywhere outdoors.
In addition, special care is needed to prevent careless fires by not leaving food unattended while cooking, following safety rules when using various devices and winter electrical appliances, and so on.
