Successful Opening Ceremony of Election Office and Launching Ceremony of Election Committee
The opening ceremony of the election office for Kim Gwang-jin, a preliminary candidate for the Seo-gu (Eul) electoral district in Gwangju Metropolitan City, was successfully concluded with a huge turnout centered around local residents.
Candidate Kim held the opening ceremony on the 20th and stated, "I will advance fearlessly for the rise of Seo-gu, the center of a greater Gwangju and an opportunity city."
Despite the relentless questions from local residents, Candidate Kim led the atmosphere with smooth answers and humor-infused wit.
He began his political career 12 years ago as a Supreme Council member of the Democratic Party, served 4 years as a member of the 19th National Assembly, worked 3 years as a senior official including Political Secretary in the Moon Jae-in administration, and gained 1 year and 6 months of experience as the Deputy Mayor for Culture and Economy of Gwangju City alongside Mayor Kang Ki-jung. He explained the mechanisms of operation and budgeting of the National Assembly, central government, and Gwangju City that he learned through these experiences.
Along with the opening ceremony, the election campaign committee inauguration ceremony was also held. The standing election committee chairpersons were appointed as follows: ▲ Shin Hyun-gu, former Director of Gwangju Economic and Employment Promotion Agency ▲ Jeong Byeong-mun, former Director of the Transportation Vulnerable Support Center ▲ Lee Seong-il, former General Director of the Baeknyeon Salim Livelihood Camp (former Minister Cheon Jeong-bae’s camp) ▲ Lee Myeong-no, 9th Gwangju Metropolitan Council member.
There was also a time to introduce about 100 department heads including former Gwangju city council members Hwang Hyun-taek and Kim Bo-hyun, and Situation Room Chief Jeong Dae-eun, along with 15 secretariat staff members.
Congratulatory speeches were given by Choi Chi-hyun, preliminary candidate for Gwangsan-gu (Eul), Kang Su-hoon, Chair of the Gwangju City Council Operations Committee, Kim Byeong-woo, President of Honam Daily Newspaper, and No Dong-il, CEO of Gwangju FC.

Candidate Kim said, "Based on my experience as Deputy Mayor where I made things happen such as attracting the three complex shopping malls, opening the summit of Mudeungsan Mountain, and passing the special law for relocating Gwangju Military Airport, I will not only complete the five core pledges but also become a politician who represents and advocates for Honam, completing the 4th term of the democratic government as a vanguard of regime change."
