Helping Young Couples Under 49 Settle into Stable Lives
Gokseong-gun, Jeollanam-do announced that it will provide up to 4 million KRW as a marriage congratulatory fund to encourage marriage among young people and alleviate the initial economic burden of marriage.
The eligible couples are those aged between 19 and 49 who have registered their marriage after July 4, 2022, and have never received the marriage congratulatory fund before. Both spouses must have had their residence in Jeollanam-do for more than six months continuously, and at least one spouse must have a continuous residence in Gokseong-gun from the date of application until the payment of the support fund.
Applications can be made from six months after the marriage registration date up to one year and six months after that date.
Couples who meet all the conditions will first receive 2 million KRW as a marriage congratulatory fund by the 15th of the following month. If both spouses continue to reside in Gokseong-gun, they can receive an additional 1 million KRW annually for up to two years under the “Gokseong-type Marriage Congratulatory Fund Support Project.”
From now on, if both spouses reside continuously in Gokseong-gun for more than two years, they can receive up to 4 million KRW in marriage congratulatory funds.
Even if the couple does not meet the eligibility criteria to receive the initial 2 million KRW marriage congratulatory fund, couples aged 49 or younger who registered their marriage after January 1, 2021, and have continuously resided in Gokseong-gun for more than six months at the time of application can participate in the “Gokseong-type Marriage Congratulatory Fund Support Project” and receive up to 2 million KRW over two years.
An official from the county said, “We will continue to develop various youth policy support projects, including marriage congratulatory funds, so that many young people can come to Gokseong-gun and establish a stable life and settlement.”
