Suncheon City Launches Customized Health Management for Pregnant Women and Infants

Providing Personalized Nutrition Counseling and Educational Services

Suncheon City in Jeollanam-do announced that it will visit the homes of pregnant women and infants with nutritional risk factors such as anemia, underweight, and stunted growth twice a month to deliver customized diet food packages and provide individual nutrition counseling and educational services.

The selection of project participants targets pregnant women and infants who have one or more nutritional risk factors such as anemia, underweight, growth retardation, or nutritional imbalance based on nutritional assessments including anemia tests, height, and weight measurements, and whose household income is below 80% of the median income according to the National Health Insurance standards.

Once selected, customized supplementary food packages containing items such as potatoes, carrots, black beans, seaweed, milk, and eggs are delivered directly to each home twice a month for 6 to a maximum of 12 months, categorized by target groups including infants, pregnant women, postpartum women, and breastfeeding mothers.

In addition, various methods such as individual counseling, home visits, online education, and group education are provided to help participants maintain balanced nutrition and manage their nutrition according to different stages.

Last year, nutrition plus services were provided to 247 pregnant women and infants (an average of 110 per month), resulting in a 96% improvement rate in anemia and a 95.2% satisfaction rate with the program, demonstrating a very high effectiveness of personalized nutritional food provision and nutrition education.
