Kang Eun-mi: "President Yoon Must Immediately Enact the Itaewon Disaster Special Act"
Assemblywoman Kang Eun-mi of the Justice Party strongly criticized the People Power Party for recommending the exercise of veto power on the Itaewon Disaster Special Act during a floor spokesperson briefing on the 18th.
Assemblywoman Kang stated, “Does the People Power Party feel satisfied only when they stab a dagger into the hearts of the bereaved families until the very end?” She argued, “It is shameless behavior to obstruct the law, which the bereaved families of the Itaewon disaster painstakingly enacted after 438 days of relentless effort, until the very last moment.”
Even at the moment the law was passed, the bereaved families were waiting for the ruling party’s agreement, but the ruling party refused to agree, and now the People Power Party, which has only just mentioned renegotiation, was strongly criticized.
He pointed out, “Until the law was enacted, there were several opportunities for negotiation with the People Power Party in the standing committee, the agenda coordination committee, and the plenary session,” adding, “The People Power Party themselves kicked away the chance for negotiation, and there is no citizen who believes they suddenly developed a willingness to negotiate now.”
