Jeju Aviation University Lightweight Crew and 7 Others Awarded 90 Million KRW Prize Money
Continued Sponsorship Activities Through Agreement with Korea Coast Guard
S-OIL (CEO Anwar Al Hizazi) honored the coast guards who performed heroic activities.
On the 17th, S-OIL, together with the Korea National Council on Social Welfare (Chairman Kim Seong-i), held the ‘Hero Coast Guard Awards Ceremony’ at the Naru Hotel in Seoul and presented plaques and prize money totaling 90 million KRW to 8 hero coast guards of 2023.
At the ceremony, S-OIL awarded a plaque and prize money of 20 million KRW to Corporal Son Haedal (28 years old, Jeju Aviation University), who was selected as the ‘Top Hero Coast Guard’.
Additionally, plaques and prize money of 10 million KRW each were given to 7 ‘Hero Coast Guards,’ including Sergeant Choi Hu-geun (38 years old, Pohang Coast Guard Station, Guard and Rescue Division).

View original imageCorporal Son Haedal, selected as the Top Hero Coast Guard, was dispatched to the scene of a fishing boat capsizing accident in Jeju last October, where he directly rescued 7 people using an aircraft hoist. He also discovered and rescued one more crew member trapped inside the overturned fishing boat.
S-OIL CEO Anwar Al Hizazi said, “Coast guards who risk their lives to save others despite difficult maritime conditions are true heroes,” and added, “S-OIL will continue to show unwavering interest and support for the coast guards.”
S-OIL signed the ‘Coast Guard Hero Keeper’ agreement in 2013 with the Korea Coast Guard and the Korea National Council on Social Welfare to encourage and boost the morale of coast guards who dedicate themselves on the front lines to protect Korea’s maritime territory and the lives and property of its citizens, including rescuing distressed vessels, preventing marine pollution, and cracking down on illegal fishing boats.
