Lee Kang-in's Multi-Goal Leads to Chicken Shop 'Sold Out'... "Sales Doubled" Review Post
Self-Employed Entrepreneurs Share 'Sold Out' Reviews
In the first match of the 2023 AFC (Asian Football Confederation) Qatar Asian Cup, the South Korean national football team defeated Bahrain 3-1, drawing attention as a domestic chicken restaurant reported a 'sold out' review.
On the 15th, a post titled "Sold 50 chicken bones and 8 boneless chickens, heading home now" was uploaded to a self-employed community. The author, Mr. A, who runs a chicken restaurant with his parents, wrote, "It was the first group stage match of the Asian Cup and broadcast on cable, so I thought there wouldn't be many orders, but everything sold out."
He continued, "I didn't see any of the goal scenes, but I feel good. Sales were twice as high as a usual Monday," adding, "The boneless chicken was already sold out at the start, and if there had been more boneless chicken, I think more orders would have come in. I couldn't sell more because the stock was depleted." Mr. A explained, "Since all the chicken was sold out, I stopped all deliveries and takeouts at the start of the second half," and added, "I'm planning to leave work early today and just watch the game."
Mr. A also expressed his anticipation for future football matches. He said, "The quarterfinal is on Saturday at 8:30 PM, so I'm looking forward to that." Netizens who read his story responded with comments such as "Glad the self-employed people were happy too," and "The national team did a great job."
On the 15th (local time), the Group E match between Korea and Bahrain in the 2023 AFC Asian Cup group stage was held at the Jassim bin Hamad Stadium in Doha, Qatar.

Meanwhile, the previous day, the South Korean team faced Bahrain in the first match of Group E in the Qatar Asian Cup group stage. During the first half, South Korea received three yellow cards, and around the 6th minute of the second half, they conceded an equalizing goal, continuing a tense 1-1 situation. However, at the 11th and 24th minutes of the second half, Lee Kang-in scored multiple goals, leading South Korea to a 3-1 victory and earning 3 points.
It is not new for chicken restaurant sales to surge ahead of national-level football matches. During the 2022 Qatar World Cup, nationwide chicken franchise stores also enjoyed a 'football boom.' At that time, sales at major domestic chicken franchises such as Kyochon F&B, Genesis BBQ, and bhc Chicken reportedly surged by 160%, 190%, and 312% respectively compared to the previous week.
