“I am Angrilla, the gorilla specialized in sudden acceleration. A gorilla who often gets angry. It’s not because I hate or dislike, but because I have a heart full of love, and I cannot tolerate lies, laziness, or rudeness. That’s why I am Angrilla.”
This is an explanation of an emoticon character developed by a resident of Songpa-gu in 2022. After completing the ‘Character Creator Training Course’ at the Songpa Women’s Career Connection Center (hereafter Career Connection Center), the character was launched on a popular portal emoticon sales platform in October of the same year, ranking 8th in daily sales and achieving a top-tier position.
Amid great interest from residents, over the past two years, 25 out of 28 students from the course have been listed on sales platforms, and 5 have completed artist registration with the Korea Artists Welfare Foundation, showing excellent results.
Accordingly, Songpa-gu (Mayor Seo Gang-seok) will strengthen specialized education for women through the Career Connection Center this year to actively support the social advancement of women with career interruptions.
The first support project of the new year is ‘Product Photography and Photo Retouching Support.’ It provides product photo shooting and retouching to help early-stage and prospective women entrepreneurs use them for online and print promotions.
The target applicants are early-stage or prospective women entrepreneurs residing in Songpa-gu or women entrepreneurs within three years of establishment located in Songpa-gu. Interested parties can visit or submit applications via email by January 24, referring to the announcement on the Career Connection Center website. The photography sessions will be held on January 29 and 30.
‘Village Environment Instructor’ training will also be newly offered. This reflects the growing global importance of carbon neutrality and the increasing demand for local environmental education. The course runs three times a week for eight weeks, covering climate change crises and carbon neutrality practices. After completion, participants will have opportunities to work as environmental instructors. The program targets women with career interruptions residing in Songpa-gu. Applications can be submitted on the Career Connection Center website by February 5.
The ‘Character Creator Training Course,’ which achieved great success over the past two years, will receive in-depth support. In addition to character development using existing 2D design programs and producing various souvenirs such as stickers, keyrings, and postcards, a character artist exhibition will be held this year. The program will support trainees to continue their activities as artists alongside entrepreneurship.
In the second half of the year, a program called ‘Waking Up the Wardrobe Certificates’ will be conducted. This is a social welfare administrative assistant training course designed to help women re-enter the labor market by utilizing certificates that have become ineffective due to lack of proper use after acquisition. The program targets women with career interruptions residing in Songpa-gu who have obtained professional social welfare qualifications. After job training in general administrative tasks, social welfare counseling, and case management, employment in related fields will be supported.
