Eunpyeong-gu Selected as 'A Grade' for Natural Disaster Safety by Ministry of the Interior and Safety in 2023
With an A grade acquisition, an additional 2% of national treasury support for damage restoration costs will be provided when a special disaster area is declared this year due to natural disasters.
Eunpyeong-gu (Mayor Kim Mi-kyung) announced that it was selected as an excellent institution by receiving the highest grade, "Grade A," which is two levels higher than last year's evaluation, in the "2023 Natural Disaster Safety Diagnosis" conducted by the Ministry of the Interior and Safety.
With this Grade A achievement, Eunpyeong-gu will receive an additional 2% national treasury support for damage recovery costs when a special disaster area is declared due to natural disasters this year.
The "Natural Disaster Safety Diagnosis" is conducted annually on 228 local governments nationwide according to the Natural Disaster Countermeasures Act. It evaluates 33 safety diagnosis items and 84 indicators, including natural disaster risk factors, prevention and recovery measures, facility inspection and maintenance, and assigns a total of 5 grades (A to E).
Grade A is awarded to 34 local governments among the 228 cities, counties, and districts nationwide. Eunpyeong-gu received the highest grade given to the top 15% of local governments by receiving high evaluations in disaster prevention and recovery, and facility inspection and maintenance.
