Gurye-gun Signs Friendship Exchange Agreement with Son Tra District, Da Nang, Vietnam
Active Exchanges Expected in Tourism, Culture, and Agriculture
On the 11th, Gurye-gun, Jeollanam-do announced that it signed a friendship exchange agreement with Son Tra District at the Son Tra District Office in Da Nang City, Vietnam.
At the signing ceremony, 15 members of the Gurye-gun exchange delegation, including Kim Sun-ho, Governor of Gurye-gun, and Kim Soo-chul, Vice Chairman of the County Council, attended along with Yeom Ji-yeon, Vice Consul of the Republic of Korea in Da Nang, Dinh Quang Cuong, Deputy Secretary of the Da Nang City People's Committee, Pham Truong Son, Secretary of the Son Tra District Party Committee, and 43 officials from Son Tra District including Hoang Son Tra, Chairman of the District People's Committee.
Before the ceremony, a pansori performance by a traditional Korean music artist from Gurye was held, and as a side event, a photo and art exhibition of the two cities was opened.
During the agreement ceremony, the signing of the agreement between the local governments and the exchange of commemorative gifts to continue mutual friendship took place. The agreement included a commitment for the two cities to foster a close friendly relationship based on mutual respect and trust, and to actively promote exchanges in various fields such as tourism, culture, and agriculture.
With this agreement, the two cities plan to discuss specific exchange and cooperation measures for projects such as youth cultural envoy programs and youth language training support projects for nurturing global talents, as well as seasonal worker support projects to address rural labor shortages and stabilize labor costs.
Governor Kim Sun-ho said, “Through this agreement, I hope the two cities will move forward together toward a brighter and more dynamic future.”
Chairman Hoang Son Tra responded, “Let us explore various ways for the two regions, which are growing centered on the tourism industry, to coexist and develop.”
Son Tra District is one of the six districts of Da Nang City, Vietnam’s top tourist destination, and is home to internationally renowned tourist sites such as My Khe Beach, selected as one of the world’s top 10 beaches, and Linh Ung Pagoda (Ch?a Linh ?ng, 靈應寺), famous for its 67-meter-high sea goddess statue.
The Vietnamese government announced in the ‘Vietnam Government Vision 2045’ that it plans to develop Da Nang City into a first-class central government city by 2030 and has approved plans to develop the Son Tra District area into a financial hub.
