Gwangju Metropolitan Office of Education Rolls Up Sleeves to Support Students Victimized by School Violence
28 Institutions Designated for Special Education and Psychological Therapy Completion
The Gwangju Metropolitan Office of Education has rolled up its sleeves to provide psychological treatment and daily life recovery support for students who are victims of school violence.
On the 11th, the Gwangju Office of Education announced that it had designated 28 institutions, including Gwangju Cheongyedan (Gwangju Youth Violence Prevention Foundation), Maum Dream Psychological Counseling Center, and Honam University Student Counseling Center, as institutions authorized to provide special education and psychological treatment.
This designation of institutions was promoted to ensure smooth post-support for students who are victims of school violence and to prevent recurrence among perpetrator students. In particular, it is regarded as a demonstration of the commitment to realizing "Gwangju Education that does not give up on a single child," as the superintendent of education personally awarded the designation certificates to the institutions for the first time.
Going forward, these institutions will work together with the Office of Education to conduct special education completion, psychological treatment support, and educational projects for victim students. Through this, they aim to help children, adolescents, and parents achieve psychological and emotional stability and enhance students' adaptability to school.
Online applications for special education and psychological treatment are available through the Special Education Operation System.
Superintendent of Education Lee Jeong-seon stated, “We will do our best to prevent the recurrence of school violence and support school adaptability in cooperation with these institutions.”
