Xi Jinping says in letter to US: "Earth's fate depends on improving China-US relations"
Chinese President Xi Jinping said in a letter to an American citizen that "the future and destiny of the Earth depend on the stability and improvement of China-US relations," according to China's state-run Xinhua News Agency on the 10th.
According to the report, President Xi recently stated in a letter to Sarah Landy from Iowa, USA, that "the continuous development of China-US relations requires a greater will from the peoples of both countries." Sarah Landy is an American whom President Xi met during his first visit to the US in 1985.
President Xi emphasized, "China hopes to cooperate with the United States to promote the stable and sustainable development of China-US relations and provide more public goods to the international community," adding, "We hope to work towards lasting peace, universal security, common prosperity, openness and inclusiveness, and the construction of a beautiful world."

He also referred to his earlier promise to invite 50,000 American youths over the next five years, stating, "I hope that many American youths will visit China to see, hear, and feel China firsthand, thereby building more bridges of exchange between the peoples of the two countries."
