Gyeonggi-do to Provide Up to 40% More Support for Eco-Friendly Farms' Damage Recovery Costs in Case of Disasters
Gyeonggi Province will provide up to 40% more restoration funds to eco-friendly farms affected by disasters compared to general farms.
On the 10th, Gyeonggi Province announced that following the revision of the 'Ordinance on the Promotion and Support of Eco-friendly Agriculture and Fisheries,' eco-friendly agricultural and fishery product producers will receive 40% more disaster restoration funds when disasters occur.
Eco-friendly agricultural and fishery product producers incur higher production costs than general farms due to efforts such as minimizing the use of chemical materials, but disaster restoration funds have been provided equally until now.
Income survey analysis by the Gyeonggi-do Agricultural Research and Extension Services also showed that production costs for eco-friendly farms are about 40% higher than those for general farms.
Based on disaster restoration fund support statistics over the past three years (2021?2023), it is estimated that an additional 60 million KRW of provincial funds will be required annually to support eco-friendly agricultural and fishery product producers.
