Opening of Daejeon Pavilion at CES 2024 in Las Vegas, USA
Operating with 20 company booths and a separate regional promotion hall
10 local companies participating in CES win 'CES Innovation Awards'
Daejeon City has opened its first-ever exclusive pavilion at the ‘CES (International Consumer Electronics Show) 2024’ held in Las Vegas, USA. The pavilion opening was made possible following Mayor Lee Jang-woo of Daejeon’s attendance at last year’s CES event, where he promised to support local companies’ participation in CES and expand opportunities for overseas market entry.
On the morning of the 9th at 10 a.m. (local time), Daejeon City announced the opening and operation of the exclusive CES pavilion, the ‘Daejeon Pavilion.’ The pavilion is located within the ‘Eureka Park,’ a space of about 80 pyeong showcasing startups’ innovative technologies. It features booths for 20 companies and a promotional hall for ‘Daejeon, the Science City of Korea.’
This year, over 500 Korean companies participated in CES. Among them, 42 companies from Daejeon took part: 20 companies with booths in the ‘Daejeon Pavilion,’ 12 companies in the ‘KAIST Pavilion,’ 4 companies in the ‘Hanbat University Pavilion,’ and 6 companies participating individually in the Central Hall and other areas.
Notably, among the CES participating companies, 10 local companies ? including D&CBiotechnology, Nano Electronics Co., Ltd., Can Filter, LifeOn Korea, Panesia, Tote, Antler Reality, AlgoCare, Seedronics, and Iruda Planet ? received the ‘CES Innovation Award.’
This year, a total of 310 companies won Innovation Awards at CES, with 143 of them (46%) being Korean companies.
During the CES event period, Daejeon City will operate the Daejeon Pavilion while simultaneously promoting the region’s innovative technological capabilities to the world and providing comprehensive support for investment attraction for each company.
On the first day of the CES event, Jang Ho-jong, Deputy Mayor for Economy and Science of Daejeon City, plans to hold a meeting with venture capitalists and other investors to assess the overseas expansion capabilities of Daejeon startups and discuss support measures.
