Songpa-gu (District Mayor Seo Gang-seok) held a New Year's greeting event at Lotte Concert Hall on the 9th, marking a vigorous start to the Year of Gapjin.
Despite heavy snowfall, over 1,500 residents attended the event, showing high expectations for Songpa-gu's administration in the new year. Mayor Seo personally welcomed the residents and promised to continue the ‘servant leadership administration’ without change this year.
Residents conveyed their hopes for Songpa-gu's administration in the new year through video messages. Representatives from various fields, including seniors, parents, and young artists, expressed wishes such as “We hope there will be more meaningful gatherings where residents come together like the 8.15 Joyful Choir,” “We ask for generous support and attention for artists,” and “It would be great if Songpa had more attractions and entertainment unique to the district.”
In response, Mayor Seo shared the 2024 administrative vision and key projects in his New Year's address, pledging to advance Songpa-gu's development.

To this end, the district will implement 25 detailed projects throughout the year, including reducing lanes and planting cherry blossom trees as street trees from Seokchon Lake to Garak Market Intersection. The plan is to transform Songpa-daero into a vibrant premium street, enhancing brand value and revitalizing the local economy.
Mayor Seo also said, “We will shift our approach to redevelopment and reconstruction projects from regulatory administration to facilitative and supportive administration,” adding, “We will proceed more swiftly with creativity, innovation, and fairness.”
Additionally, to improve residents' quality of life, the district will promote cultural and artistic infrastructure projects such as ▲construction of the Seokchon Lake Dongho Art Gallery ▲remodeling of the Cultural Arts Center ▲remodeling of Seoul Playground ▲and improvements to sports facilities.
Finally, Mayor Seo stated, “Songpa-gu is now running again,” and pledged, “In the new year, all public officials will stand humbly before the residents, share the value of servant leadership administration, listen more attentively to residents' voices, and actively reflect their opinions in the district administration.”
