Domestic Venture and Startup Companies Expected to Win Record Number of 'CES 2024 Innovation Awards'

The Ministry of SMEs and Startups announced on the 7th that 116 domestic venture and startup companies received CES Innovation Awards at the 'International Consumer Electronics Show (CES) 2024' held in Las Vegas, USA, from the 9th to the 12th, achieving the highest number of awards ever. This is based on the status as of the 4th, and the number of awards may increase with future announcements.
The CES Innovation Awards are given by the Consumer Technology Association (CTA), the organizer of the exhibition, to innovative technologies and products leading the world. This year, a total of 313 companies and 379 products were selected across 28 fields including Artificial Intelligence (AI), Digital Health, Smart City, and Robotics. Among them, 134 companies (42.8%) and 158 products (41.6%) are domestic, with 121 of these being SMEs and startups.
Among the domestic awardees, 116 companies, accounting for 86.6%, are venture and startup companies, and 97 companies (72.4%) are startups established within the last 7 years, marking the highest number of awards ever. Notably, among the 116 venture and startup companies that received Innovation Awards, 91 companies (78.4%) have participated in the Ministry of SMEs and Startups' support programs such as TIPS and commercialization support.
The 'Best of Innovation Award,' given to companies with the most innovative technologies and products in each exhibition category worldwide, was awarded to a total of 27 companies globally. Among the 8 domestic awardees, 7 are venture and startup companies. Zcrypto received the Best of Innovation Award for its blockchain-based offline voting booth that guarantees secret voting and verification, winning the award for the second consecutive year. Among the 91 startups participating in the 'K-Startup Pavilion' operated by the Ministry of SMEs and Startups, 10 companies also received Innovation Awards.
