Meeting with Jeonnam Governor, Discussing Joint Response to Current Projects, etc.

Gong Young-min, the governor of Goheung County, Jeollanam-do, has taken swift action from the beginning of the new year 2024 to resolve major pending projects.

On the 5th, Governor Gong had a meeting with the Governor of Jeollanam-do and toured all floors of the Jeonnam Provincial Office, exchanging New Year greetings with the Deputy Governor, Deputy for Political Affairs, and heads of departments and bureaus.

This visit to Jeonnam Province was aimed at strengthening ties with Jeonnam Province and enhancing a close cooperative system for regional development, so that key projects for realizing the Goheung vision of “establishing a foundation for a population of 100,000 in Goheung in 10 years” can proceed at full speed.

During the meeting with the Governor of Jeonnam Province, Governor Gong expressed gratitude for the signing of the business agreement in December last year regarding the installation of the Goheung Nokdong New Port Jeju-linked Logistics Center, and sought joint response measures such as reflecting the project in national plans and securing national funding for future promotion.

Additionally, he requested support and cooperation from Jeonnam Province for regional pending projects including the construction of the Gwangju-Goheung (Naro Space Center) expressway, the railway construction from Beolgyo Station to Goheung Station to Nokdong Station on the Gyeongjeon Line, the establishment of the Space Launch Vehicle Science Complex, and the development of forest welfare infrastructure in the Palyongsan area.

Governor Gong Young-min stated, “To bring about change and development in Goheung, it is essential to complete the projects currently underway or planned.” He added, “We will continue to run a proactive administration to ensure that Goheung’s pending projects are reflected in government budgets by firmly establishing a cooperative system with Jeonnam Province.”

Meanwhile, on January 1, the first day of the new year, Governor Gong visited the Naro Space Center area, the target site for the space launch vehicle industry cluster project, reaffirming his strong determination to establish Goheung as a central city in the space industry.

Following this, together with department heads, he visited key project sites such as the unmanned aerial agricultural technology specialized agro-industrial complex, fishing vessel construction promotion complex, Nokdong New Port logistics center, smart farm youth startup and rental-type smart farms for farmers, Donggang specialized agro-industrial complex, and Namyang Udo pedestrian bridge, urging the prompt advancement of these projects.
