The core idea is to connect Samsung SmartThings with Tesla's solar panels, Powerwall (home energy storage system), electric vehicles (EV), etc., allowing users to monitor power consumption and easily control them through an app.
At CES 2024, Samsung Electronics will showcase a demonstration of the SmartThings Energy and Tesla Powerwall integration, and the actual service is planned to gradually expand starting in the second quarter of 2024 in the United States.
Accordingly, from the second quarter of this year, Tesla users in the U.S. will be able to use Samsung SmartThings to check various information at a glance, such as the amount of energy produced through Tesla's solar panels, power consumption, remaining energy, and vehicle battery charging status. When linked with Tesla's 'Storm Watch' app, users can receive alerts on Samsung TVs or mobile devices during severe weather conditions such as typhoons or heavy snowfall.
Additionally, before or during a power outage, the SmartThings 'AI Saving Mode' can be activated to automatically reduce the power consumption of connected home appliances, thereby extending the usage time of the Powerwall.
