The Year of Young Yeongdeungpo's Leap... Yeongdeungpo-gu Holds '2024 New Year's Greeting Event'
January 3rd New Year Greetings at Yeongdeungpo Art Hall, Sharing Future District Directions and Vision... New Year's Address, Residents' New Year Wishes Video, Celebration Performances Held with About 1,000 Attendees... District Mayor Choi Ho-kwon: "We Will Unite with Residents to Imagine and Challenge Towards a 'Southwest New Economy Premium City'"
Yeongdeungpo-gu (District Mayor Choi Ho-kwon) announced that it held the ‘2024 New Year Greeting Meeting’ at 3 p.m. on the 3rd at Yeongdeungpo Art Hall to welcome the hopeful Gapjin Year.
The district invited residents from all walks of life to exchange New Year greetings and provided an opportunity to share the future direction and vision of the district administration, as well as Yeongdeungpo’s bright future.
About 1,000 people attended the New Year Greeting Meeting, including members of the National Assembly, party committee chairpersons, city and district council members, heads of related organizations, leaders of professional groups, and representatives of residents from various sectors.

Before the main ceremony, the Yeongdeungpo Volunteer Orchestra lifted the atmosphere of the venue and performed a welcoming pre-ceremony concert for the attendees.
In his New Year address, Yeongdeungpo District Mayor Choi Ho-kwon declared that this year would be the first year of a vigorous leap toward a younger Yeongdeungpo. He pledged to transform Yeongdeungpo’s image to be younger and to advance it into the ‘Southwest New Economic Premium City Yeongdeungpo,’ where jobs, housing, culture, and green spaces harmonize with imagination and challenge.
In particular, Mayor Choi said he would open the path for Yeongdeungpo’s next 100 years by joining forces with the residents, the true owners of local autonomy, to promote redevelopment and reconstruction projects, implement measures for the relocation of factories in Mullae-dong, build the Yeongdeungpo Mullae Arts Center, launch the Future Education Foundation, and respond to low birth rates and aging population.
Next, a specially produced video titled ‘Residents’ New Year Wishes’ was presented. Listening to the wishes of residents met throughout Yeongdeungpo, the video conveyed the message that the district administration will continue to listen attentively to residents’ voices and respect their hopes this year as well.
During the following congratulatory performance, the Lopeka Choir presented a moving harmony, creating a moment of unity for all.
