Goryeong-gun, 'Youth Village, Muse Town' Government Support Confirmed Again This Year
Goryeong-gun, Gyeongbuk Province, announced that the youth village "Muse Town," established after being selected for the Ministry of the Interior and Safety's 2023 "Youth Village Creation Support Project," will continue to receive government support this year.
The Ministry of the Interior and Safety conducted a project evaluation on December 20-21 for the "Youth Village Creation Support Project" being promoted by 24 local governments nationwide. Goryeong-gun's youth village project received a favorable evaluation, resulting in continued support this year with a full national subsidy of 200 million KRW.
Muse Town in Goryeong-gun is in its first year of the 2023 project. It laid the foundation for the youth village by leasing an old grain warehouse in Kwaebin-ri, Daegaya-eup, and creating a youth village community space called "Muse House." Additionally, two villa units in Daegaya-eup were rented to serve as accommodation spaces for out-of-town young musicians to experience living in the area.
"Youth Downtown," Goryeong-gun's first youth enterprise and the operator of the youth village, attracts young musicians from across the country who love music to Goryeong. By linking with Goryeong's historical traditions as the birthplace of ancient music and various cultural tourism contents, it offers programs such as local experiences, content activities, parties, and stays. These programs provide opportunities for young people to stay in the area, build relationships with the local community, and experiment with jobs, thereby encouraging out-of-town youth to settle in the region.
Notably, Goryeong-gun's youth village is the only one nationwide to be selected for the Ministry of the Interior and Safety's "Youth Village Creation Support Project" through collaboration with the Tourism Promotion Division. In line with the recent trend of experiencing local living, it attracts young musicians from outside the area by leveraging the region's unique history and cultural tourism resources.
