What Is the Secret Behind Gwanak-gu's Selection as an 'Outstanding Smart City'?
Selected as an Excellent Smart City in the Ministry of Land, Infrastructure and Transport's 'Smart City Certification' Contest... Discovering and Operating Various Advanced (Smart) Projects Reflecting District Policies and Characteristics
Gwanak-gu (Mayor Park Jun-hee) has been selected as an excellent smart city in the Ministry of Land, Infrastructure and Transport's 'Smart City Certification' contest. As a result, the district will receive a smart city certificate and a plaque.
The 'Smart City Certification System' diagnoses the smart capabilities of local governments and certifies domestic smart cities at the government level. It has been in operation since 2021.
In this evaluation, the district was highly praised for establishing a 'Smart City Integrated Platform' that links related organizations such as 112 and 119 with the Smart Control Center to provide real-time CCTV video information in the event of various incidents and accidents.
Building on this, the district will accelerate efforts to create an advanced (smart) city in 2024.
The district plans to proactively respond to rapidly changing future environments by solving urban problems using various advanced technologies.
First, the district will continue to discover advanced (smart) city services that reflect the district's administrative direction and characteristics, following last year.
To this end, it will actively apply for public projects hosted by the government and Seoul City to secure necessary funding and create a better living environment for residents by introducing high-quality advanced services such as establishing smart senior centers.
Last year, the district was selected for the "2022-2023 Seoul City Living Field Smart City Pilot Project" and received a total of 1 billion KRW in support to build 10 'Smart Senior Centers' using the latest information and communication technology (ICT).
The Smart Senior Centers support bridging the digital divide among the elderly in a super-aged society. They provide three services: ▲ intelligent health management (smart healthcare), ▲ leisure welfare programs using video platforms, and ▲ kiosk experience.
The district is also committed to protecting residents' safety through advanced technology. Using location-based technology (Beacon), the 'Smart Guardian' service, which enables rapid response by linking with the control center for children who stray during outdoor activities at daycare centers, will be expanded following last year.
Various facilities such as closed-circuit televisions (CCTV) in child protection zones, illegal parking enforcement electronic boards, and traffic signs will be integrated, and a system to guide speeding and stop line violations will be established to prevent pedestrian accidents at crosswalks and create a safe walking environment.
Additionally, by establishing an IoT monitoring system for aging facilities, the district plans to monitor aging infrastructure and high-risk facilities in real time and minimize damage by predicting accident risks.
Furthermore, the district will continue to operate various advanced (smart) projects that residents can easily experience on the streets, including ▲ cultural interpretation and crime prevention patrol outdoor robots, ▲ smart crosswalks, ▲ smart complex rest areas, and ▲ smart road heating systems.
