Yongin City Receives Excellence Award in Welfare Ministry's 'Child Protection System Establishment' Evaluation
Active Administration Draws Attention with Operation of Child Protection Team and More
Yongin City in Gyeonggi Province announced on the 2nd that it received the Excellence Award in the city/county/district category at the '2023 Child Protection System Establishment Outstanding Local Government Evaluation' hosted by the Ministry of Health and Welfare.
Every year, the Ministry of Health and Welfare evaluates and awards outstanding policies related to the establishment of child protection systems across 17 provinces and 229 cities/counties/districts nationwide. In this evaluation, Yongin City was the only local government in Gyeonggi Province to be selected as an outstanding local government.
The city explained that it received high praise for actively managing cases such as receiving reports, investigating, and protecting children through the operation of the Child Protection Team, which was newly established in October 2021.
Last year, Yongin City was the first local government in the province to allocate a budget of 22 million KRW for treatment and counseling to families at high risk of re-abuse, and it also operates a 'Child Abuse Case Study Group' jointly with dedicated child abuse personnel from related organizations.
