Icheon-si Completes Intelligent Transportation System Construction
Smart Intersections and Emergency Vehicle Priority Systems on a 41.2km Section
Gyeonggi-do Icheon City recently announced on the 2nd that it has completed the Intelligent Transportation System (ITS) construction project and began normal operation from this month.
The city was selected for the Ministry of Land, Infrastructure and Transport's public project and invested a total of 5 billion KRW, including 3 billion KRW in national funds and 2 billion KRW in city funds, to build the ITS from 2022 to last year.
Through this project, the city established infrastructure on major roads within the jurisdiction, covering a 41.2 km section including Gyeongchung-daero, Iseopdaecheon-ro, and Seoicheon-ro, with ▲ 13 CCTV locations ▲ 23 smart intersections ▲ 16 Dedicated Short-Range Communications Roadside Equipment (DSRC-RSE) ▲ 4 video detectors ▲ 5 electronic road signs ▲ 3 smart crosswalks ▲ and an advanced emergency vehicle priority system.
In addition, a traffic information center accessible via PC and mobile environments has been opened to provide various traffic information such as real-time traffic flow data, CCTV footage, and incident information.

A city official stated, "Starting with this ITS construction project, we will continuously expand advanced transportation infrastructure and gradually promote a citizen-centered intelligent transportation system."
