Sang-kyu Park, SK Innovation President's New Year's Message: "Ensuring Survival Capability for Sustainable Growth"
Comprehensive Call for Fundamental Reform
Park Sang-gyu, President of SK Innovation, urged the SK Innovation affiliate companies to continue pursuing sustainable growth by strengthening their fundamental competitiveness in the new year 2024.
SK Innovation announced that President Park Sang-gyu emphasized comprehensive business area restructuring and portfolio solidification in his New Year's email message sent to SK Innovation affiliate members on the 2nd.
President Park, who took office last December, first evaluated the business achievements and encouraged the members by saying, “SK Innovation has been relentlessly striving to leap forward as a ‘Green Energy & Materials Company,’” and “We have laid the foundation for ‘Carbon to Green’ through innovation in our business portfolio based on Green Tech.”
President Park ordered all SK Innovation affiliates to actively prepare and implement measures to secure fundamental business competitiveness in the so-called era of extreme uncertainty.
He said, “This year will be more challenging than ever due to geopolitical conflicts and global market blockades causing instability in world affairs,” adding, “By concentrating all our capabilities to secure resilience and strengthen fundamental competitiveness, we will be able to achieve sustainable growth.”
Specifically, President Park stated, “In the global business environment where survival is threatened, it is urgent to improve our organizational structure to survive,” and “Let us re-examine the overall strategic direction from the perspective of efficiency, which is output compared to input, and derive ways to strengthen competitiveness.” He continued, “I urge all members to make efforts to identify and improve inefficiencies and waste.”
President Park also said, “We will rigorously evaluate the SK Innovation affiliate business portfolio in terms of past and current performance, prospects, profitability, competitiveness, and risks, and based on this, make efforts to properly allocate limited resources to build a solid portfolio.” He emphasized strengthening synergy among SK Innovation business companies, resource efficiency from an overall perspective, and maximizing SK’s unique ‘Together Again’ management advantage.
He also urged members to revisit the SKMS (SK Management System) management philosophy and actively practice SK’s original corporate culture themselves to overcome crises together.
President Park said, “I ask all members to practice the SKMS-based corporate culture in daily life, including the corporate view of contributing to and growing with the company, a voluntary and motivated organizational culture, and a human-centered culture based on mutual respect.”
