Professor Im Hyuk-baek, Professor Emeritus at Korea University, has been appointed as the Chair of the Democratic Party's Primary Election Management Committee.
On the morning of the 29th, Kang Seon-woo, the party spokesperson, met with reporters after a closed Supreme Council meeting held at the National Assembly and stated, "The Supreme Council has appointed Professor Im Hyuk-baek, a world-renowned scholar, as the Chair of the Primary Election Management Committee."

Spokesperson Kang explained, "Professor Im has been closely involved in the history of Korean politics and is well-known for theorizing Korean politics. He will manage the process fairly to ensure the Democratic Party leads change and becomes a winning party."
Regarding criticism that this appointment is unlikely to signify unification due to Professor Im's past participation in the policy advisory group of Lee Jae-myung's presidential campaign, Spokesperson Kang stated, "Professor Im is a scholar who has provided extensive advice to politicians across party lines."
