Kim Hyun-gon, Director of the Ministry of Economy and Finance, Appointed as Deputy Governor of Gyeonggi Province Economy Division
Gyeonggi Province has appointed Kim Hyun-gon (51), Director General of Fiscal Management at the Ministry of Economy and Finance, as the new Deputy Governor for Economic Affairs.
Appointed Kim Hyun-gon passed the 38th Administrative Examination and has served as Director of Budget Management, Director of Employment Environment, and Director General of Fiscal Innovation at the Ministry of Economy and Finance. He was also dispatched twice to the Presidential Secretariat.
In 2018, when Kim Dong-yeon was Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Economy and Finance, Kim Hyun-gon worked as Policy Planning Officer at the Ministry of Economy and Finance.
The Deputy Governor for Economic Affairs will assist the Governor and take charge of overseeing and coordinating the province's economic policies.
A Gyeonggi Province official stated, "We understand that Director Kim was judged to be the right candidate for Deputy Governor for Economic Affairs due to his outstanding experience in macroeconomics, policy planning and coordination, international cooperation, and fiscal management," adding, "The selection process was fair, with strong candidates applying."
It is reported that eight candidates applied for the Deputy Governor for Economic Affairs position, including two former local government heads, two former central bank officials, two former central economic ministry officials, and two former executives of large corporations.
